The African Union has strongly condemned the invasion of the town of Rafah, located in southern Gaza, by the Israeli army. Moussa Faki Mahamat, chairperson of the African Union Commission, expressed "extreme concern" over the ongoing war in Gaza, deploring the massive loss of life and systematic destruction.

The press release also underlines the firm condemnation of the extension of the conflict to the Rafah crossing, crucial for the delivery of humanitarian aid, and calls on the international community to coordinate its efforts to put an end to this deadly escalation.

As the Israeli army took control of the border crossing with Egypt, used for talks for a truce deal, the UN and other humanitarian organizations pressed for the immediate reopening of the crossings of Rafah and Kerem Shalom, emphasizing the urgency of ensuring access to vital aid for the population of Gaza.....Nethanyou indifferent
